FCC Statement of
Fundamental Truth

1. THE SCRIPTURES INSPIRED.

The Bible is the inspired Word of God, a revelation from God to man, the infallible rule of faith and conduct, and is superior to conscience and reason, but not contrary to reason (2 Timothy 3:15-16, 2 Timothy 3:16, 1 Peter 2:2).

2. THE TRIUNE GOD.

We believe in the One true and living God, the Creator, Redeemer, Sustainer and Ruler of all things. He is infinite, eternal, and unchangeable and He is revealed to us as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

  • Father: God, as the Father reigns over all His universe with providential care. He is all-powerful, all-loving, all-knowing, and all-wise. (Gen. 1:1; 1 Chron. 29:10; Jer. 10:10; Matt. 6:9; Acts 1:7; Rom. 8:14-15; 1 Cor. 15:24; Eph. 4:6)
  • Son: The Lord Jesus Christ became man without ceasing to be God, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful man by volunteering Himself as a sinless, substitutionary sacrifice on the cross, thereby satisfying God’s righteous judgement against sin. (Luke 1:34-35; John 1:1-18, Rom. 3:24-26; Rom. 8:3)
  • Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit is the Divine Person who convicts the world of sin. He alone brings new life to those who are spiritually dead; He indwells believers permanently, seals them unto the day of final redemption, bestows spiritual gifts upon them, fills those who are yielding to Him. (John 3:3-8; 14:16-17; 16:7-11; 1 Cor. 12:7-11, 13; Eph. 4:30; 5:18).

3. MAN, HIS FALL AND REDEMPTION.

Man was created good and upright for God said, 'Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.' But man, by voluntary transgression, fell and his only hope of redemption is in Jesus Christ the Son of God (Genesis 1:26-31, Romans 5:12-21).

4. The salvation of man.

We believed salvation is the gift of God’s grace alone. This salvation is made possible by the finished work of Christ at Calvary and is available to anyone who puts his/her faith in Christ as his/her personal Saviour and Lord. (John 1:12, John 14:6, Acts 16:30-33)

5. The promise of the Father.

All believers are entitled to the promise of the Father and the baptism in the Holy Spirit according to the command of our Lord Jesus Christ. This was the normal experience in the early Christian Church. With it comes a deeper spiritual life and service, the bestowment of the gifts and their uses in the work of the ministry (Luke 24:49, Acts 1:4, 1 Corinthians 12:1-31). This wonderful experience is distinct from and subsequent to the experience of the new birth (Acts 10:44-46, Acts 11:14-16, Acts 15:7-9).

6. The Church.

We believe that the Church of Jesus Christ is the universal company of God’s redeemed people, His Body, of which He is the head, His Bride, whom He loves infinitely, and His temple, in which He dwells. This universal Body of Christ is visibly expressed in local assemblies, whose purpose is to glorify God through worship, fellowship, instruction in God’s Word, observing the ordinances and training in service to the world. The supreme task in the mission of the Church is to make disciples for Christ in all the nations through the proclamation and teaching of the Gospel. The Church is also to demonstrate the love and compassion of Christ, through word and deed, in an alienated world. (1 Peter 2:9,10; Eph. 1:22,23; 5:25- 27; 2:19-22; 1 Thess. 2:14; Eph. 3:6-10; Acts 2:42; Eph. 4:11-13; Heb. 10:25; Matt. 28:18-20; 26:26- 29; 1 John 4:17)

7. Evangelism.

A divinely called and scripturally ordained ministry has been provided by our Lord for the evangelization of the world and the edifying of the body of Christ (Mark 16:15-20, Ephesians 4:11-13; Matt. 25:31-46, 28:18-20).
